Alan Wake 2 Update Fixes Duplicate Charms in New Game Plus

New Game Plus will also track unlocks from all playthroughs, though a checkpoint from a regular run and fresh NG+ file is required.

Remedy Entertainment has released a new update for Alan Wake 2, which is live on all platforms. It fixes an issue where players couldn’t pick up Saga’s inventory capacity upgrades in two locations. More importantly, it corrects some issues with New Game Plus (introduced in The Final Manuscript update).

New Game Plus will now track unlocks from all your previous games instead of just the first playthrough. First, you need a checkpoint from a regular playthrough and then start a fresh New Game Plus run, which means it’s not retroactive for ongoing NG+ playthroughs.

The patch also removes duplicate Charms from one’s inventory and prevents the acquisition of duplicates. The manuscript page in Bright Falls’ forest shack is also fixed and can be acquired by players.

Alan Wake 2 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Check out our review here. It’s also our pick for Game of the Year 2023 – head here for more details.

New Game Plus

  • Removed duplicate Charms from the player’s inventory.
  • Prevent players from getting duplicate Charms.
  • New Game Plus now tracks players unlocks from all the previous games, not just from the first playthrough.
    – If you already have unlocked New Game Plus, you need to load any checkpoint from a non-New Game Plus session before starting a New Game Plus.
    – Note: You also need to start a completely fresh New Game Plus save file for the unlocks to take effect, after loading in an old checkpoint from a non-New Game Plus session.
  • Stubborn “Bright Falls” manuscript page in the bunker forest shack has been taught some manners and is now ready to be picked up by the players.
