AMD retracts hUMA Performance Comparison Between PS4 And Xbox One

AMD issues a statement retraction

Yesterday at Gamescom 2013 AMD’s senior product manager, Marc Diana released a statement in which he touted the PS4 as being far superior to the Xbox One in terms of performance due to its inclusion of the hUMA processing system.

Today, in the light of a response from Microsoft, AMD retracted that statement, replacing it with the following:

“During a recent Gamescom 2013 interview, an AMD spokesperson made inaccurate statements regarding the details of our semi-custom APU architectures. AMD will not comment on the Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PS4 memory architectures and will not speak for Microsoft, Sony or other AMD customers.”

It seems that once again, there is no clear forerunner in terms of overall console processing and memory power. At the end of the day, both systems will feature the most advanced gaming tech we’ve ever seen, and the catalogue of games will ultimately be what sets them apart from one another.
