Anthem – All Activities Will Have Matchmaking By Default, No Vote Kick Feature

Lead producer Ben Irving gives new details on matchmaking functionalities in Anthem.

The BioWare staff has been actively answering queries and questions from fans about the upcoming Anthem on social media for months now- just recently, we’ve learned some important things about the game this way, such as the fact that progress from the upcoming demo won’t carry over into the full game, or confirmation that the game won’t have any loot boxes. The game’s lead producer Ben Irving has once again been active on Twitter, and cleared up some details about matchmaking functionalities.

Irving confirmed that there will be no activity in the game that will restrict players to playing only with those who’re invited in their parties, and that every single activity in Anthem will have matchmaking, which is something that BioWare has mentioned in the past as well. When asked about whether this is something that will be optional, Irving clarified in a separate tweet that though all activities will automatically go to matchmaking by default, this is something players can opt out of, allowing players to tackle things solo. In another tweet, Irving also confirmed that there will be no vote kick feature in Anthem, since BioWare thinks “too many negative behaviors come from this”- that said, there will be ways for AFK players in the game to be kicked from activities. He did not go into detail about what those ways might be.

In related news, we’ve been treated to plenty of gameplay footage for Anthem lately. We’ve seen some sweet open world gameplay, footage from an entire mission, as well as gameplay for Fort Tarsis. Take a look through the links. Anthem launches on February 22 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
