Even though Respawn’s Apex Legends may have stolen some of its thunder, BioWare’s Anthem is still one of the most hyped games in a while. To further up the ante on that hype, it seems EA has hired District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp. Blomkamp teased “something new” on Twitter with an image of the game, accompanied with a simple “#AnthemGame”.
Blomkamp is excited to “share this soon”, but what could it possibly be? A similar tweet was shared by Oats Studio, which was founded by Blomkamp and creates experimental short films. It’s looking extremely likely that the director and Oats Studio have a new Anthem-related short in the works that could debut soon. Considering the director’s experimental work with video games, particularly Halo: Landfall, it should be interesting to see.
In the meantime, we’re waiting to see how Anthem performs. Electronic Arts estimates that it will sell 5 to 6 million copies of the game before the end of the current fiscal year. Though Anthem will arrive on February 22nd for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, it can be accessed by Origin Access Premier subscribers on February 15th.
