Bioware’s Anthem is currently the talk of E3 2017 thanks to its recent gameplay showcase at Microsoft’s conference. In conversation with YouTube Live for its E3 coverage, game director Jonathan Warner offered more information about the upcoming shared world action RPG.
Warner noted the “very big open world for players to explore” and said that players will be able to experience the entire game solo. Alternatively, they can also group up with friends. The entire experience is described as “frictionless” and even lead designer Corey Gaspur confirmed that there would be an “amazing Bioware story” that could be played solo.
A “diverse array of opponents” has been promised which ranges from hostile monsters to other humans with Javelins (PvP was not confirmed though). As for the gunplay, an “amazing array of different rifles” will be featured but you can also change how your Javelin works with certain gear. Developed on Frostbite, it wasn’t confirmed whether the game would have romance options.
Bioware is working on Anthem to be playable “over a long period of time” and continuously expanded. The name itself references people coming together for a larger purpose, which seems in line with humanity seemingly on the brink in the world.
Anthem will be out in Fall 2018 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
