Bioware’s Anthem looked pretty cool when showcased at Microsoft’s E3 2017 presser and EA has confirmed that the game was running in real-time on an Xbox One X (with Digital Foundry verifying that the demo was running at 2160p checkerboarding). The same footage is now available on PlayStation’s official channel though there’s a problem.
The button prompts may indicate that this the PS4 version (or even PS4 Pro) but eagle-eyed NeoGAF user EvB discovered that the DualShock button prompts have actually been overlaid on top of the Xbox One button prompts. If you observe just few frames from this point, the transition will slightly show the Xbox One button prompts underneath before fading to the DualShock prompts. The above image captured by EvB highlights this better.
Though it’s common practice for publishers to share footage for a game to multiple channels, especially for different platform holders, the problem here is that the Anthem footage is from the Xbox One X version. Or at least that’s what it seems like. This appears to be a mistake on the part of Electronic Arts rather than Sony.
