Valve Software’s free short Aperture Desk Job is now available on Steam, which means it’s playable on PCs and the Steam Deck. As a showcase for the Steam Deck, it doesn’t currently support keyboard and mouse – you’ll need a controller to enjoy it. That hasn’t stopped the title from achieving a 96 percent “Overwhelmingly Positive” response from user reviews.
Aperture Desk Job is touted as a “re-imagining” of walking simulators, except with the player behind a desk. You’re looking to climb the corporate ladder but as with anything in the Portal universe, something else is going on. Despite the connection, Valve has clarified that this isn’t a sequel to Portal so don’t expect a full-fledged title.
User reviews are reporting Aperture Desk Job to be roughly 30 minutes long. Given the price point, it should be well worth checking out for series fans. The Steam Deck is currently shipping worldwide with the first batch of order mails having been sent. Stay tuned for more details on the next batch in the coming days.
