Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends has recently gotten a new update on the release of Season 11: Escape. Update sizes for such live-service games are known to be large, but fans of the game on both Xbox and PlayStation will have to contend with exorbitantly huge download packs that are comparable to sizes of entire games.
PlayStation users will have to download around 43 GB of data for the latest update, while Xbox users will have to download an even larger 72 GB patch. Players on PC via Origin will have to download 18 GB of data, while those on Steam will only have to download 9 GB.
For context, the upcoming Call of Duty: Vanguard will only take up 56.6 GB on the Xbox One (with high resolution packs being optional downloads). Large file sizes are, of course, not new to games by any means, but with developers having access to more tools than ever to tackle those issues, it’s disappointing to see such cases cropping up every now and then.
Apex Legends Season 11: Escape is live now, and has a new tropical themed map, a new SMG, and a whole lot more additions and improvements.
