Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Launches on July 9th, First Gameplay Revealed

Edward Kenway returns in this ground-up remake of the 2013 classic, complete with improvements, new content and much more.

It’s felt like years since we’ve heard that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is in development, but thankfully, we won’t have to wait long to play it. In its worldwide reveal showcase, Ubisoft and Vantage Studios confirmed that the remake officially launches on July 9th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It’s also playable on day one for Ubisoft+ subscribers.

The story of Edward Kenway, a lowly pirate turned Assassin and legendary captain, remains the same. However, the development team has completely rebuilt the original with the latest version of Anvil Engine. The result is improvements to the environments, lighting and dynamic weather system alongside high-resolution textures.

Combat and parkour have seen a significant overhaul, with the former now offering perfect dodges and parries (which can result in up to four chained takedowns). The latter offers some familiar maneuvers from Assassin’s Creed Shadows, including free jumping, side ejects, and back ejects. But regardless of your approach, be it stealth (where you can now crouch freely) or violence, movement feels more fluid than ever before.

And that’s before we talk about the new content, including alternate fire upgrades for every weapon on the Jackdaw, three new officers – Lucy Baldwin, The Padre and Dead Man Smith – to recruit for unique naval abilities, and even a cat or monkey for the ship. Sea shanties return with a few new ones added, and there’s even new narrative content for Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet on top of all the new additions.

Stay tuned for more details on Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, including what it won’t carry over from the original.
