Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Has Gone Gold

No delays possible from this point on.

Although the game isn’t out until next month, development on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the upcoming open world action RPG from Ubisoft, and the next entry in their long running flagship franchise, is now completed. The official Assassin’s Creed Twitter account confirmed that the game has gone gold earlier today.

Odyssey is a follow-up to last year’s franchise-reviving Origins (although in series chronology, it is a prequel), and continues the series’ march down the action RPG route. It adds dialog choices, branching stories, and full romances to the game, to add to levels, open world, hitbox based combat, gear, equipment, and loot management, and stats from last year. Set in Ancient Greece, this is the furthest back in time that Assassin’s Creed has gone (unless you want to count the flashbacks to the First Civilization that were so frequent in the earlier games).

Whether or not Odyssey can continue building on Origins’ momentum remains to be seen. It launches on October 5 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
