Assassin’s Creed continues its strong comeback initiated with the excellent Assassin’s Creed Origins last year with this year’s even better Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Ubisoft announced today in a press release that the game’s launch sales have set a new record for the series this generation so far.
To put it in simple terms that isn’t embellished with needless PR, what this means is that in its launch week, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has sold better than any other Assassin’s Creed game has this generation. While this generation saw some weak performing games in the series, such as Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, it also saw games like Black Flag and Origins, which are among the franchise’s best sellers overall— so this news bodes well.
Given the strong reception, this is also likely to be a game with very strong long term sales, meaning it could well end up being the best selling game in the entire series by the time all is said and done (especially since it won’t have game releasing next year to cut off its legs).
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
