Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be heading to the Nintendo Switch thanks to cloud-based technology. However, this is only for Japan, as announced in the Japanese version of the recent Nintendo Direct. It will be out on the same day as the worldwide launch for the game.
This isn’t the first major Japan-exclusive release made possible on the Switch with cloud technology. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard arrived earlier this year in much the same fashion. While it won’t be released outside of Japan, it should be possible to play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey through a Japanese account. Given the streaming nature of the game though, there’s no guarantee that the experience won’t suffer.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is releasing in North America, Europe and the rest of the world on October 5th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. It takes place during the Peloponnesian War in Ancient Greece and the player can choose either side as the mercenary Kassandra or Alexios.
