Assassin’s Creed Syndicate: How The Whistle Feature Changes Gameplay Mechanics

Small details like this could make the game quite a bit better, if they work.

Since Ubisoft first announced Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, the company has been trying to convince everyone it comes across, this game will be better than the last. In fact, it’s pretty clear the firm wants people to think of this as the best of the recent generation of Assassin’s Creed games while putting the bitter distaste that came along with Unity out of people’s minds. One way in which the company is trying to do this is by bringing back a feature that was much loved and was missing from the last game.

The Whistle feature, as Game Director Scott Phillips recently told the Examiner, is “something that sounds simple, but when you actually integrate it into your gameplay, it’s incredibly powerful and very effective. As seen in Black Flag or AC III, you can only use it while in bushes and it was a focused mechanic. For us, you can do it anywhere at anytime.” Phillips added the whistle is a way to distract enemies and then sneak up on them. He added Ubisoft has also put a new twist on it but wouldn’t explain exactly what the twist is.

The director says he believes people are going to be quite entertained with this new feature. There are a lot of new features put into the game that Ubisoft hopes will draw people in. The crafting system included in Syndicate has also been ramped up. We’ll get to see how the team has improved this game when it finally goes live on October 23, 2015.
