When it comes to Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, there has been an awful lot of talk about what not one but two playable characters bring to the table. We already know there are going to be separate missions for the two characters and that means that each of them have little different set of skills. François Pelland, Ubisoft senior producer sat down with Redbull.com in order to shed a little more light on those skills. Pelland also talked about the amount of polish the engine behind Syndicate has gotten since it was last used in Assassin’s Creed: Unity.
When it comes to the skills the characters had, Pelland talked about Evie and her ability to kick butt. At the same time, the character is going to be relying more on stealth than she will be relying on brutal force. The character has to use the environment more than anything else in order to best her opponents when she does get into a scrape. Clubbing someone over the head with a cane takes too long but she can also shoot down things like cans and barrels in order to have them fall on enemies and take them out that way.
Those kinds of takedowns are apparently going to look that much better after the work the team has done on the engine. “The Unity team did a massive investment on the engine over the course of three years,” Pelland said. “It’s been a long process for them. For a lot of them we’ve managed to polish a lot on what they’ve done.” Just how successful the team was with the polish job will be revealed when Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate is launched on October 23, 2015.
