Atelier Sales on Switch Were Similar to Sales on PS4

The takeaway from this is that the game managed to reach new audiences.

Earlier this year, Koei Tecmo and Gust released Atelier Lydie and Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings, the latest entry in their slice of life, long running RPG series. It launched on PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch, with it actually being the first time the series has launched on a Nintendo console.

In spite of this, however, it seems like the game ended up selling just about as much on Switch as it did on the PS4. Speaking to Miketendo64 in an interview, the developers noted that sales on the Switch were “similar” to sales on the PS4, also taking from this that the game managed to reach a new audience for the series.

“As sales numbers in North America and Europe were similar on PlayStation 4 and Switch versions, it seems this title could reach players new to the Atelier series,” said Junzo Hosoi and Keisuke Kikuchi – General Producer and Development Producer for the upcoming Nelke and the Legendary Alchemists.

It’s good to hear it did reach a larger number of players than usual. As I noted in my review for the game earlier this year, there’s something oddly charming and compelling about the title that kept me playing it long after I thought I would have stopped. If you want a breezy, relaxing and charming game to play, you could do far worse than *sigh* Atelier Lydie and Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings.
