We’ve known about an Avatar game in development at Massive Entertainment for quite some time, and when it was finally fully unveiled last year, Ubisoft said that it would be out sometime in 2022. With updates and showings on the game having completely dried up since then, many have wondered whether those plans are still in place, though Ubisoft has insisted that the game will be out by March 31, 2023. Recent leaks had also claimed that it was targeting November launch.
Now, however, it turns out that that’s not going to happen after all. In its most recent quarterly fiscal report, Ubisoft confirmed that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been officially delayed. The game is now targeting a launch in fiscal year 2023-24, which starts on April 1, 2023 and ends up March 31, 2024.
“While this additional development time is a reflection of the current ongoing constraints on productions across the industry, we are hard at work to design the most efficient working conditions to ensure both flexibility for our teams as well as strong productivity while delivering the best experiences to players,” the company writes.
What that means for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s next showing remains to be seen. A Ubisoft Forward Showcase is set for September 10, where many had expected the upcoming open world title to show up, though that seems to be somewhat in doubt now.
Whenever it launches, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Stadia.
