Larian Studios showcased some new gameplay for Baldur’s Gate 3 via D&D Live. However, it’s not a trailer or short video – instead, its founder and lead designer Swen Vincke playing through the current build live. Check out the full gameplay presentation starting at 15:05 below.
The main purpose of the demo is to showcase a variety of systems and mechanics, from combat to dialogue. Bugs are apparent and some polish is still needed but the game is shaping up very well. For example, the dialogue system’s past-tense style is gone in favor of a more direct present-tense.
Vincke took votes on whether the Goblin Camp or Underdark should be explored. The Goblin Camp itself had an interesting ritual going on involving a Mindflayer but the Underdark also looked good. Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently in development for PC and Google Stadia. It’s currently targeting August 2020 for early access on Steam if everything goes according to plan.
