Baldur’s Gate 3 is officially releasing on August 6th for PC, exiting early access after nearly three years. It’s coming to PS5 on September 6th, but Larian Studios will host new Panel from Hell on July 7th to showcase the RPG’s full scope. In the meantime, it outlined some of the features players can expect in the full release.
First is the level cap. Originally planned to be level 10, it’s now level 12, with spells like Planar Allies, Otto’s Irresistible Dance and Chain Lightning becoming available. There are 11 races and 31 subraces at launch, with Dragonborn and Half-Orcs confirmed. The Dragonborn has ten subraces – Black, Blue, Brass, Bronze, Copper, Gold, Green, Red and Silver – each with a unique damage type, resistance and breath. Expect to see more of them at the next Panel from Hell.
Half-Orcs boast a “fierce physique” and are described as “creatures of intense emotion, propelled by that inner fire.” They can do extra critical damage thanks to triple dice, which is some of the strongest weapon damage and are also very resilient. Relentless Endurance, their core ability, sees them dropping to 1 HP instead of dying on a fatal hit. It’s only usable once and then requires a long rest to recharge.
Finally, there’s the Duergar, a third Dwarf subrace which is more subterranean, and you can expect more than 200 new responses for them. Stay tuned for more details on what to expect from the 1.0 release.
