Regardless of how one may feel with regards to the realism of DICE’s Battlefield 5, there’s no denying the company is taking significant steps to evolve the gameplay. That also means bringing new modes and experiences for players to have fun with. To that end, Battlefield 5 will be receiving a new multiplayer mode called Airborne.
Revealed on Twitter with concept art, the developer described it as the process of parachuting into a battle and working to destroy opposing artillery on the ground. If one is on the defending side, then they must battle against parachuting troops and ensure artillery stays intact. It’s a twist on the standard attack/defense formula that we’ve seen over the years.
How the air force will play into remains to be seen but perhaps we’ll learn more at EA Play 2018 taking place on June 9th at 11 AM PT. DICE has promised to showcase some Battlefield 5 multiplayer gameplay and we’re expecting to see Grand Operations appear in some form as well. Battlefield 5 is out on October 19th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
