Bayonetta 3 – Witch Time, Summons, Torture Attacks, and Finishers Revealed in New Gameplay Video

New character Viola is also showcased with the ability to activate Witch Time on blocking and summoning her Infernal Demon, Cheshire.

Along with a short new trailer, Nintendo and PlatinumGames have dropped an extensive gameplay trailer for Bayonetta 3. It showcases the finer points of combat, starting with strikes, firearms, and Witch Time. Check it out below.

New to the sequel is the Demon Slave mechanic, which sees Bayonetta summoning Infernal Demons to take on larger foes. While these can dish out some major damage, Bayonetta is exposed during the summoning, so shifting between normal and Summon combat is essential. Plus, you’ll need to inflict damage to build up her Summon gauge.

Infernal Demons have other uses, like setting up for Bayonetta’s Torture Attacks or participating in Demon Combo Finishers. Assault Slave can also be used to counter an attack with a Summon, or you can use her Infernal Demon during Witch Time for some heavy damage. Finally, Demon Masquerade allows Bayonetta to merge with a demon for more powerful forms, with each weapon having its unique abilities.

We also see Viola, the witch-in-training, in action. Unlock Bayonetta, Viola can activate Witch Time by blocking at the right moment. Her Infernal Demon, Cheshire, is unique in that Viola can fight bare-handed while it’s active (though Witch Time becomes unavailable). Finally, difficulty options are confirmed with Casual, Normal and Expert available at any time. You can also equip accessories for auto combos in Standard or higher difficulty.

Bayonetta 3 is out on October 28th for Nintendo Switch.
