Bethesda Not Sure If Switch is Powerful Enough For Prey

Being evasive or being honest?

Bethesda have already been confirmed as an official partner on the Nintendo Switch, and we know that they appear to be rather enthusiastic about it. However, they’re still not actually allowed to talk much about it at the moment, given that Nintendo aren’t discussing the Switch officially in any capacity until the January 12 event.

That may be why Pete Hines gave an evasive answer when asked about the possibility of Arkane Studios’ upcoming Prey coming to the Switch in an interview with Finder. When asked if the Switch is powerful enough to run the game, Hines said, “I have no idea. There are discussions around it, but there is no conclusion yet.”

Now, as I said, this is either because Hines would rather not say anything about it until the official announcements on January 12 (he was similarly evasive about supporting the Switch, then the NX, at all, before its official reveal where it turned out Bethesda were on board); this could be because Arkane aren’t as enthused about the Switch as Bethesda’s own studios are; or finally, it could actually be because Arkane nor Bethesda are unsure about getting the game to run on Switch, because it might not be powerful enough to run it.

We don’t know yet- but January 12 is right around the corner- so we should have some real clarity on things very, very soon.
