Beyond Good and Evil 2, the passion project of Rayman creator Michel Ancel, was finally unveiled in all of its glory at E3 2017. Progress has been slow, to say the least, but it’s still being made. Speaking to IGN in a recently released interview, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has talked about the potential of the game’s universe.
Interestingly, Guillemot also talked about the project moving in “one or another direction.” “I spoke with Michel last week about it to see where it was going; how we should move in one or another direction,” said Guillemot. “We see the potential of this universe is fantastic, and Michel is really passionate [about it]. It’s going to be fantastic, I think.”
While there isn’t much information to go off of, Ubisoft seems to be taking the project seriously. We already learned back in December 2018 that Ubisoft Blue Byte, which is releasing Anno 1800 this month, has also joined development on the massive sequel. Beyond Good and Evil 2 will have playable beta by 2019 end, but it might be a while before a proper release date for the full game is announced.
As usual, stay tuned for more details. You can check out last year’s snazzy cinematic trailer here, which contains some rather interesting revelations about Jade, the first game’s protagonist.
