Black Desert Online Is Targetting Checkerboard 4K/30fps On Xbox One X, 6 TFLOPs GPU Makes 4K Feasible

As opposed to the base version targeting 1080p and 30fps.

One of the most popular games in the world is the free to play MMO Black Desert Online– so getting it enhanced for the Xbox One X is undoubtedly a win for Microsoft. Now, thanks to a chat that Pearl Abyss’ Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mr James Heo, had with GamingBolt, we know more about the nature of those enhancements.

Speaking to GamingBolt, Mr. Heo confirmed that the base Xbox One version of the game will run at 1080p and 30 frames per second; on the Xbox One X, on the other hand, he said that the game is going for checkerboarded 4K and 30fps. It is important to note that in both instances, he confirmed that these are only targets, and may be subject to change by the final build’s release.

Mr. Heo also confirmed that the Xbox One X’s 6 TFLOP GPU is helpful, because it facilitates 4K resolution for games on the console- which is, of course, a benefit for any developer targeting high end graphics for their game. “We believe it’s helpful in making 4k resolution feasible,” Mr. Heo stated.

Black Desert Online is available on PC and will release on Xbox One and Xbox One X in 2018.
