Black Myth: Wukong’s Xbox Series X/S Version is Delayed, DLC Teased

Game Science is "optimizing the Xbox Series X/S version to meet our quality standards", aiming to "minimize the wait" between releases.

Game Science’s Black Myth: Wukong is on track to launch this August, with pre-orders currently available. While PS5 and PC players can dive in at launch, Xbox Series X/S players must wait longer. In a new pre-order FAQ, the developer said it’s currently “optimizing” the Xbox version.

“We are currently optimizing the Xbox Series X/S version to meet our quality standards, so it won’t release simultaneously with the other platforms. We apologize for the delay and aim to minimize the wait for Xbox users. We will announce the release date as soon as it meets our quality standards.”

Game Science also indicated that there wouldn’t be microtransactions, following a “classic one-time purchase model with a one-time payment” at launch. However, it could release DLC and “non-pay-to-win in-game purchases” in the future. The former seemingly points towards more story content, while the latter could be cosmetics like new outfits.

Black Myth: Wukong launches on April 20th. It’s touted to last for at least 15 hours while featuring over 100 enemy types. Exploration is akin to Souls-like titles, with areas featuring multiple paths of exploration, while combat sees players utilizing three different stances. Magic is also important and includes Sun Wukong’s ability to unlock different animal forms to shapeshift into.
