Borderlands 3 isn’t being developed right now, Gearbox working on post-release BL2 content

There you go.

Earlier there were a ton of news outlets covering that Borderlands 3 is in development, but we didn’t cover that news for one specific reason. It was full of speculation.

Furthermore, Randy Pitchford has tweeted that the game indeed isn’t in development and they are working on Borderlands 2 related content.

“Chill out internet. No one has started working on a sequel to Borderlands 2. It’s fun to talk and think, but actual effort is focused on Borderlands 2 DLC, Aliens, etc,” Pitchford tweeted. (Via IGN)

“Clean and Simple truth: The only Borderlands related game development work going on right now is for Borderlands 2. I expect that to change at some point, but that is the state of the box at this moment in time…”

Borderlands 2 is a terrific game and there are plenty of DLCs planned for it, so any new game announcement should not happen any time soon. Borderlands 3 was rumoured to be in development after lead writer Anthony Burch revealed it in The Totally Rad Show.
