Borderlands 4 Launches on October 3rd for Nintendo Switch 2

It will run at around 30 frames per second, supports crossplay with other platforms, and requires a download, even with physical copies.

Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford has announced that Borderlands 4 will launch on October 3rd for Nintendo Switch 2. This is roughly a month after it releases on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

The price has yet to be announced, and while it won’t cut any content, the Switch 2 version will run at “mostly around 30 frames per second,” Pitchford confirmed on Twitter. Some dips are inevitable during “intense moments,” “heavy combat,” or when hosting co-op in Handheld mode.

It’s also confirmed that a download will be required, even for physical copies, but it’s unknown whether the latter uses a traditional cart or the new Game-Key Card. Thankfully, crossplay with other platforms will be available.

For non-Switch 2 platforms, Borderlands 4 launches on September 12th for $69.99. Set on Kairos, players control four new Vault Hunters – Vex, Rafa, Harlowe, and Amon – as they battle against the Timekeeper and his forces. You can learn more about the origins of Vex, the newest Siren, and Gearbox’s approach to her design.
