Borderlands Dev Working on “Next Gen”, Announcement Later This Year

"Platforms TBD" according to Gearbox Software CEO.

Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford earlier stated that the team was working on some new titles, particularly the fourth Brothers in Arms game, some new IPs and updates to the original Homeworld titles. He recently took to Twitter to announce that the team is working on next gen without explicitly stating which platform.

“We’re working on next-gen. Platforms TBD. We’ll probably announce something later this year.”

This of course indicates development for the PS4, Xbox One and PC, though it could also be possible that the developer is working on a new IP exclusive to one of the platforms (we’ve seen it happen already with Double Helix Studios and Insomniac Games). One thing is confirmed though – no new Borderlands title this year.

But keeping in mind the sheer volume of projects in development at Gearbox, that can’t be a bad thing. Will Gearbox make an announcement at E3 2014? Let us know in the comments.
