Borderlands Spinoff is in the Works, Coming “Sooner Than You Think” – Rumour

Apparently, it'll offer a different kind of experience from the looting shooting action of the mainline games.

Borderlands 3 is not even two years old yet, and Gearbox’s looter shooter is still very much receiving active support with updates and new content drops. Hell, Borderlands 3: Director’s Cut just launched less than a month ago. But it seems there’s more Borderlands coming up in the not-so-distant future- and it’s going to be an entirely new game.

At least that’s what the folks at Game Reactor are saying. In a recently published article, they said that a non-numbered Borderlands game – a spinoff – is currently in development, and that it’s going to release “sooner than you think.” While the report doesn’t talk about what players can expect from it exactly, it does say it’s going to “deliver something different” from the formula the series is generally known for.

There are a couple of possibilities that immediately jump out. It could be another spinoff in vein of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Alternatively, it’s possible that a sequel to Tales from the Borderlands (which has popped up in rumours here and there over the last few months) is finally coming. Then again, Game Reactor’s report does say that they “can’t wait to see the reactions to” the game, which would suggest that it’s something entirely new and different.

This is, of course, unconfirmed and unverified, so for now, take this with a grain of salt. We’ll keep an eye out for any new details and updates though, so stay tuned to GamingBolt.
