Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Announced, Releases in Q3 2014 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC

Set between Borderlands 1 and 2, you'll be on the side of Handsome Jack...on the moon.

Gearbox Software has finally announced Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel which will take place between the first and second games, and it will release for current gen consoles and PC in Q3 2014. It sees you controlling four new characters as you side with Handsome Jack and help his rise to power prior to the events of the second game.

That’s not all though – The Pre-Sequel takes place on Epsis, a neighbouring moon of Pandora with low gravity. This means bigger jumps and you’re also equipped with a jet pack to hover in the air and stomp down on enemies. You’ll also need to manage oxygen levels when traversing Epsis, which can be recharged at different points. Some O2 kits can also be customized to allow for elemental effects, stat increases, etc.

Of the new characters, there’s Athena, a Gladiator who wields a shield for absorbing damage and redirecting it bac at enemies; Wilhelm, an Enforcer seen in the second game but who is suitably more human here; Claptrap – yes, Claptrap – who can gain various “Fragtrap” skills to fight; and Nisha the Lawbringer who will presumably be focused on melee attacks.

And who can forget the new Cryo and Laser class weapons?
