Destiny’s alpha has just wrapped up on the PS3 and PS4 – though you can continue playing the same at your own “peril” – and Bungie is now prepping for the game’s official launch. It will be a fairly big deal, especially since players have accrued over 6 million games in the PS4 alpha alone.
Nonetheless, Bungie COO Pete Parsons says, “We have been actively preparing.” In conversation with Games Industry International, he stated that, “We take it super seriously and we’ve been planning for a long time, we’ve been investing into it to make sure that we have the best experience possible.
“I think we have to ultimately see what happens, but we have every expectation of from moment one, having a great experience, and when things happen, whether it’s with us or the Internet, we have things in place. There’s elegance in what we do so we have plenty of safeguards for this.”
Will it be enough, especially since every online game released in the past year or more – like Battlefield 4, SimCity 4 and even the recently released WildStar – has faced difficulties? We’ll find out when Destiny launches on September 9th.
