Destiny’s first week for Trials of Osiris, the elimination based 3 vs. 3 PvP mode introduced in House of Wolves, had its fair amount of success. Unfortunately, it was also rife with players complaining of error codes like Olive along with rampant cheating. This cheating included lag switchers and even DDOSing other players’ connections to win.
This hasn’t gone unnoticed by Bungie though. In its latest Weekly Update, community manager David “DeeJ” Dague revealed that the developer has identified those cheating in Trials of Osiris and begun issuing bans. These bans can be temporary or forever-ever depending on the severity of your crimes. On top of that, the error code Olive seemed to be a bug and has since been corrected.
How many players got banned though? Bungie wouldn’t tell but it did reveal some interesting numbers: of the total 3.798 million matches played, almost 300,000 Guardians earned a perfect scorecard with zero losses and nine straight wins. This resulted in 188,442 players having a chance to access the secret Lighthouse on Mercury where they could collect their ToO loot.
In the meantime, avoid any kind of cheating – Bungie is indeed watching.
