Call of Duty 2013 – Modern Warfare 4 Future Discussed By Activision Boss

They also talk about new IPs.

Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg has talked a bit on how they plan to develop Call of Duty games as well as their investment level in new IPs, and how they are managing major franchises.

There’s a new Call of Duty game expected to be released this year, probably made by Infinity Ward and called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, but that isn’t confirmed yet so who knows.

Hirshberg revealed that they give their developers a lot of creative freedom: “Our developer community represents our largest employee population at Activision, so I don’t really see the distinction when you say how much has Activision been involved,” he told Digital Trends.

“We certainly have a great track record of giving our developers tremendous amounts of creative freedom to make the games they want to make.”

He also talked a bit about new IPs and how successful sales of major franchises gives them a lot of room to invest in new properties.

“Activision is a very rigorous company and puts a lot of analysis and thought into the things that we venture into,” he revealed.

“Our strategy is to be very focused on doing a few things exceptionally well. We make those choices very carefully. That said, when you have the kind of successes that we’ve had with some of the other franchises it does free up your ability to invest behind something new that you really believe in.”
