Although Black Ops 3 is making several bigger, broader, wide sweeping changes to the Call of Duty formula that has grown stagnant over the years, there is one smaller change that has flown under the radar, that I am sure a substantial portion of the Call of Duty audience will appreciate- the ability to pick the gender for your player character. Not only that, you also have the ability to change your gender, on the fly, in the middle of the campaign.
The gender customization will be extensive, Treyarch confirmed. “It’s not just a female head on a male body. It’s a different set of animations for the entire game,” studio head Mark Lamia told Engadget.
Certainly, this should help endear the game, which comes from a series with a traditionally male tilt in its appeal, to a wider audience.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 launches on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on November 6. Stay tuned.
