Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Beta Announced for August; Blackout Beta Coming in September

The beta for the battle royale mode will be kicking off this September.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s multiplayer beta will be held in August, Activision and Treyarch have announced. As was previously confirmed, the beta will be for PS4 owners first, but only just- PS4 owners get it on August 3, while Xbox One and PC players get it on August 10 and August 11 respectively.

The beta will include Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, and Search & Destroy, alongside Control, the new objectives based game mode which was designed to bring out the best of Black Ops 4‘s new multiplayer gameplay paradigm. What it will not include- I am sure you have noticed- is Blackout, which is the battle royale mode.

That’s because Blackout will have its own multiplayer beta in September (and it will once again be first on PlayStation 4, presumably followed shortly afterwards by a beta for other platforms). Perhaps then we will find out for sure what the final player count per match will be- recent reports suggested it might be 60, as opposed to the 100 many may have expected. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be launching on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this October.
