Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 UK Physical Sales Down 59 Percent From Black Ops 3

Treyarch's shooter is still the second biggest physical launch in the UK for 2018.

Though it set records for digital sales on its launch day, opening weekend physical sales for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 are down by nearly 50 percent, as per Games Industry. This is in comparison to Call of Duty: WW2, which released last year. On top of this, physical sales were down by 59 percent compared to Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

That being said, in terms of physical launches, Treyarch’s sequel is still the second biggest launch of the year (with FIFA 19 emerging ahead). It topped the recent Gfk Chart-Track sales charts for the week ending October 13th. PlayStation 4 accounted for 58 percent of Black Ops 4 sales, while Xbox One made up 41 percent. PC accounted for the remaining percentage, but it still sold twice as many copies as Call of Duty: WW2 on the platform.

Physical sales in the UK have been taking a beating for quite some time now, especially as digital downloads rise in popularity. For instance, FIFA 19 physical sales are down by 25 percent compared to FIFA 18, but it still topped UK charts. It even fended off the likes of Forza Horizon 4 which was the fastest selling title for the franchise in the UK.
