Developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision have revealed plans for post-launch content for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. With the game slated for release on October 28, the first proper season of live content will be kicked off on November 16, alongside the launch of Warzone 2.0 and DMZ mode.
According to Activision, the first set of raids—three-player co-op fights that involves intense combat, teamwork, and puzzle solving—will be released on December 14 with the Season 1 Reloaded patch. The raids will also be a continuation of the game’s single player campaign.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s raids will be part of the co-op Special Ops mode, which made its debut back in the original Modern Warfare 2 back in 2009. At launch, the Special Ops mode will feature three missions taking place in Al Mazrah—the stealth-focused Bad Situation, the vehicle-focused Vehicle Escape, and the defense-focused Observatory Defense.
Players will be able to choose from three classed, dubbed Kits in the game: Assault, Medic, and Engineer. The Assault kit focuses on heavy armour, and at higher levels, faster item usage, higher armour capacity, and free Stims. The Medic focuses on being able to provide support through quick revives and a Stim Pistol for ranged revives. The Engineer focuses on making better use of equipment, and a Snapshot Pulse that allows them to see nearby enemies.
Activision recommends that players finish all three launch Special Ops missions with three stars and to get at least one kit to level 5 before trying to take on the raids.
