With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 having been one of the least successful Call of Duty titles in recent years- thought still very successful individually- some would have thought that Activision and Infinity Ward will be dropping the Modern Warfare brand name, and while some suspected that 2013’s CoD title might be a new Modern Warfare game, this was never really concrete.
Well, it looks like that might just be true. Bill Murray, the voice actor of Captain Price in the Modern Warfare games let slip to Jason Andrews of ThisIsXbox on a flight from Bodrum to London that he is working on a new Modern Warfare title.
“Yeah, on Monday I am off to meet Infinity Ward about the next game, Modern Warfare 4,” said Murray. “I’m doing work on the sequel to Modern Warfare 3, it carries straight on and I only ever appear in the Modern Warfare games…”
The journalist also posted a picture of himself with Murray (through the link above).
Now, this still isn’t confirmed officially (obviously), and it’s extremely possible that it’s not exactly a Modern Warfare game, but an entirely new CoD title featuring Captain Price as a character, like Call of Duty 1 and 2 did before the Modern Warfare games. But this still is pretty concrete evidence that MW4 might just be a real thing.
With the way the story ended in Modern Warfare 3, it seemed all pretty conclusive, and closure was definitely provided, so it’ll be interesting to see how Infinity Ward continue the story in Modern Warfare 4 satisfactorily.
This year’s CoD title, Black Ops 2 by Treyarch, will be releasing mid-November for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC and a few days later for the Wii U when it launches.
