For all the criticism that gets thrown at the Call of Duty franchise for its post-launch monetization, each new iteration manages to sell incredibly well. So it probably won’t surprise anyone to hear that The NPD Group’s Mat Piscatella expects Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to be a top-seller this year. It would be the ninth Call of Duty title in the last 11 years to achieve this feat.
Piscatella also felt NBA 2K20, Madden 20, Borderlands 3 and Mortal Kombat 11 will make up the remainder of the top five best-selling games. That sounds accurate especially since there aren’t a ton of games that could potentially shift millions of copies. FIFA 20 is perhaps the exception though it does far better in Europe than the United States.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out on October 25th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The multiplayer beta is live once more with Xbox One and PC pre-orders included in the mix. An open beta will take place from September 21st to 23rd so everyone, regardless of pre-orders, can take part.
