Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launches in October, and when it does, Activision have confirmed that it will be supporting full cross-platform play across PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This means that for the first time in the series’ history, players across all three platforms will be able to play with and against one another.
But there are still questions persisting about cross-progression – which refers to unified progression linked to an account, rather than a platform, so that your progress in the game is common no matter which platform you play on. Other recent notable titles that have supported cross-play have supported cross-progression as well – such as Fortnite and Dauntless. So will Modern Warfare do so as well?
Well, there’s no answer to that question yet. When asked about the same on Twitter, Joe Cecot, co-design director of multiplayer on the upcoming shooter, said that whether or not cross-progression will be supported is something that Infinity Ward are actually “still figuring out”. So as it stands right now, it may or may not end up happening.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out on October 25 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Before that, it will also be receiving multiplayer beta in September.
