Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Requires Infinite Warfare Disc To Be Played

You can't just redeem Modern Warfare and trade in your Infinite Warfare disc...

Activision had already pissed off a lot of ardent Call of Duty fans earlier this year. They announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, the long expected remaster of one of the most beloved and influential games of the previous generation, would be locked behind a purchase of an expensive edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. This was especially a problem because Infinite Warfare is a game that, fairly or unfairly, hasn’t exactly managed to endear itself all that well to most people so far.

Now, Activision’s latest move is probably going to annoy those who were hoping to purchase a copy of Infinite Warfare, redeem their copy of Modern Warfare Remastered, and then trade their copy of Infinite Warfare in to make some cash back, even more. The publisher recently put up notice on the Modern Warfare Remastered website (via Charlie Intel) that noted that the game disc for Infinite Warfare must be inserted in order for the remaster to be played. Put simply, to play Modern Warfare, you need to keep Infinite Warfare around- even if you don’t want to play it.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered will be launching on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this November.
