Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out on Friday, rebooting the series for a new generation. Though it will have several new mechanics and modes – especially the new 64 player Ground War mode – there are a few elements from previous games. Specialist difficulty from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare appears to be one of them.
On Twitter, studio narrative director Taylor Kurosaki was asked whether Specialist difficulty or an equivalent of the same would be included in the shooter. Kurosaki simply responded, “Yes” without giving further details. Higher difficulties in Call of Duty games are nothing new but what made Specialist so different?
For a start, health regeneration is disabled and the player can take realistic limb damage. Get shot in the arm and aiming down sights becomes tougher. Shot in the leg? Movement will be affected. No automatic reloading, helmets for protection against headshots and Nano Shots to recover health were also necessary.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare having a mode with realistic damage would be welcome, especially given its real-world setting. The game is out on October 25th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC so stay tuned for more details.
