Activision has announced that Call of Duty: WWII, this year’s iteration of the franchise coming from Sledgehammer Games, will be revealed on April 26th. However, thanks to some promotional material from retailer (via WCCFTech), we know a bit more about what the game entails.
Normandy and the traumatic beach landing on D-Day will be included along with the “iconic locations” in Europe, capturing the conflicts reaching during World War 2. “Classic” Call of Duty combat is being touted and Activision is promising the “definitive World War 2 campaign”. It also seems like the story will revolve around brotherhood and the bonds between soldiers fighting in the war.
After being absent in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, co-op campaign will be making a return in Call of Duty: WWII with a “new and original” story that presents a “standalone game experience.” That’s enough to convince us that it will be separate from the solo campaign.
As for multiplayer, “Boots on the Ground” is the buzz word, meaning players will be grounded and fighting in non-futuristic combat. “New ways” to socialize with friend and the community as a whole is also promised. Finally, the material states that if you pre-order, access to the Private Beta will be granted.
Call of Duty: WWII releases on November 3rd for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
