Capcom Considering Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition and Street Fighter X Tekken For the 3DS

Super Street Fighter IV was an absolute success on the 3DS, becoming the sole highlight of its anemic launch lineup, one of the 3DS’s highest rated games, and also managing to sell over a million units on just a month. So it’s no surprise that Capcom is already considering follow ups to the game, and if Ono is to be believed, then there’s not one, but two fighters coming up from Capcom for Nintendo’s ailing handheld, including the much anticipated crossover, Street Fighter X Tekken.

In an interview with Siliconera, Yoshinori Ono, series producer for the Street Fighter games, said, “For the 3DS, I wanted to do an [Super Street Fighter IV:] Arcade Edition version, but I haven’t had a chance to do that because of all the other things I’m up to,” he said.

“At the company, we’re debating, should we go for an AE port on 3DS? Should we skip that and go straight to Street Fighter x Tekken? There are a lot of things up in the air, so I can’t say for sure what our next 3DS project will be.”

Another thing that he was clear on was that Capcom would continue to support Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition. “We just don’t want to drop a game on them and run away. We’d like to keep the community going, communicate with them, and listen to their requests,” he said.

Could he be referring to possibility of having paid DLC for the 3DS game, something that Nintendo announced is coming to the system later this year?
