Developer Sandfall Interactive has unveiled a turn-based RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, that takes place in a world inspired by the France’s La Bella Epoque. The game was announced with a trailer at the recent Xbox Games Showcase that you can check out below.
The primary setting of the game is heavily inspired by a period of French history that is famous for its art. Players take on the role of Expeditioners embarking on the impossible quest to end the cycle of death of the Paintress.
As players explore the world inspired by France’s history in art and culture, there will also be plenty of enemies to take on through the game’s turn-based combat system. Along the way, however, there will be plenty of beautiful vistas that players can explore with third-person gameplay controls
The combat in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is seemingly inspired by Japanese RPGs, with players picking specific actions that their characters will take in each turn. There will also be real-time action prompts that players will have to execute to deal more damage or block or parry certain attacks.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2025.
