Remedy Entertainment have always been known for crafting excellent, linear, narrative-driven titles, but their upcoming action adventure game, Control, is looking quite different from what they’ve done in the past. It’s promising to be a lot less linear, a lot more open-ended, with loads more to do than what you’d usually expect from a Remedy title. In a new developer diary, members of the Control development team have spoken about just how exactly that materializes in the game.
The developers speak about creating a game that still has that focus on characters and narrative that Remedy titles have always been known for, while also making it a lot more open ended, with a greater emphasis on exploration and allowing players to make their own gameplay choices. They also speak about the reactive and dynamic environments of the Oldest House, which is where you’ll be spending the bulk of your time in Control. There’s also some gameplay footage in there, which is looking as interesting and as weird as ever- take a look below.
Control is out on August 27 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
