I’m willing to go out on a limb and say that Control is probably the best game that Remedy Entertainment ever made. While the company has a solid history, for my money, I think it’s the one where everything came together the best. The game seemed to unfortunately not top many charts, either physically or digitally, leading some to wonder if it was a bomb. Well, today we got a look at the financials for publisher 505 Games’ parent company, Digital Bros., and it seems like it could go either way.
In sharing their Q1 2019 financial results, Digital Bros. revealed that the action game generated an estimated €17.7 million. That numbers doesn’t seem like a lot at first glance, but keep in mind that the quarter only includes up until September, and the game released on August 27th, meaning those number are roughly for only the first month. So, keeping that in mind, the number doesn’t seem as poor though probably still lower than expected I would imagine considering the marketing push and pedigree behind the project. They did note, however, that number did not include the Epic Games Store exclusive deal that was reportedly just under €10 million.
The good news is that Digital Bros didn’t classify the game as a disappointment and even said it contributed to the increase in overall revenue from the last quarter. The expansions for the games are coming next year, and hopefully it all manages to be a much deserved success.
