Things get more and more interesting for Regent’s Crackdown 3 which will be published by Microsoft Game Studios and made quite the splash at Gamescom 2015 for its environmental destruction. Earlier today, Regent said that the full scale of the destructibility would only be in the multiplayer. Single player would have some but it would be more about traversing the environment and garnering collectibles.
In a new tweet, the official Crackdown Twitter has now clarified that only the multiplayer will be available in Summer 2016. “Had a blast showing #Crackdown3 this week! Can’t wait for you to jump into MP in summer ’16 – will share more on full game’s release soon.”
The strategy is interesting here – Microsoft wants to keep players busy with something Crackdown-related while Regent takes more time to create a full-fledged single-player campaign. Or at least that’s the hope. We’ll find out more in the coming months what exactly Microsoft and Regent have planned.
