CD Projekt RED has delivered some great games in the last few years with their Witcher trilogy, to the point that they have to be among the most beloved developers in the industry. The studio, though, has only managed to do so by having lofty ambitions- those of making the best games in the world.
In an interview with Polish website Puls Biznesu, CD Projekt RED boss Adam Kiciński said that the studio’s one and only ambition is to continue to make the best games in the world. Kiciński likened the business of developing video games to sports, saying that the ultimate gratification, apart from financial gains, is knowing that they’re responsible for one of the best games in the market.
Kiciński went on to say that there is no single recipe for a perfectly planned and calm production of such a video game, saying that such results can only be achieved through a process of multiple iterations. Which makes perfect sense, of course- certain ideas change and take shape as a game’s development progresses, and not all of these are always foreseeable.
Given how CDPR have been constantly improving with each new game they put out, with The Witcher 3 legitimately being one of the greatest games of this generation and, quite possibly, of all time, it’s fair to say that the studio puts its money where its mouth is. Here’s hoping they’ll accomplish something similar with Cyberpunk 2077.
