Cyberpunk 2077‘s launch was disastrous one, to say the very least, with a litany of bugs, glitches, and performance issues posing a ton of problems for the game. Even a whole year after its launch, the game is far from perfect, and it’s understandable that fans still hold bear plenty of disappointment for how the RPG turned out. One of the many factors that have contributed to that disappointment is the lack of cop chases and proper police AI.
In a recent livestream, however, Cyberpunk 2077 quest designer Pawel Sasko talked about how having cop chases isn’t a mandate for open-world video games when asked about why that’s missing from the game. As examples, he mentioned the likes of the upcoming open world titles Sonic Frontiers and Elden Ring.
Of course, it’s still debatable whether Sasko meant it as a joke or not, since it’s obvious that the two examples he cited don’t require such systems. Either way, it definitely has stirred up some backlash on social media, including this Reddit thread.
CD Projekt RED has previously suggested that it plans on fixing various issues in Cyberpunk 2077 with updates and fixes, the next of which will be arriving in early 2022, but it remains to be seen when (or if) the game’s lackluster cop systems will be fixed.
