Cyberpunk 2077 Developers Are Undecided On Whether The Game Will Support Mods

"We want to focus on releasing the game first," says community manager Marcin Momot.

Cyberpunk 2077 is going to have a huge audience no matter which platform you speak of, but there’s no doubting that a huge section of it will be on PC – owing to the fact CD Projekt RED is, in many ways, primarily a PC developer (The Witcher 3 was the first time one of their games saw a simultaneous console release, after all). And the PC community puts a great deal of value on mods and modding support.

So the question of whether or not Cyberpunk 2077 will support modding is quite a pertinent one. And the answer to that question? Well, there is no answer- not yet. CD Projekt RED remain undecided on that front. Recently, while speaking of the matter on the official CDPR forums, community manager Marcin Momot said that the development team remains focused on the actual development of Cyberpunk 2077 for now, and whether or not the game will support modding isn’t something they’ve decided yet.

“I wanted to elaborate on this topic and on that answer in particular,” he said. “We have no plans to share at the moment. Obviously, we would love to support the modding community in the future, but for the time being we want to focus on releasing the game first. Hopefully, this clears things up a bit.”

Cyberpunk 2077 is due out for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but there is no release date confirmed so far. We are, however, going to learn great deal more about the game at E3 next month, and be treated to new gameplay footage– all of which CD Projekt RED are very excited about.
